Living in Arnold
Arnold is a market town just north east of the Nottingham city boundary, with around 40,000 people in the wider built up area at the 2021 census. It is home to Gedling Borough Council, and its town centre is the largest in the borough, with a market on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
The town grew on framework knitting, and the first Luddite frame breaking took place here in 1811. Today Arnold takes in Daybrook, Woodthorpe, Redhill, Warren Hill, Killisick and Dorket Head, with Mapperley, described as the highest part of Nottingham, next door.
For families, Redhill Academy was rated Outstanding in every area in 2024, and Arnold Hill Spencer Academy has an Outstanding sixth form.
